Updating myself - Short Stories

Well, as most of you know I am currently working on my third draft of my Steampunk story. Things you don't know is that I have a collection of other stories that are in first or second draft that I am also currently in the middle of editing. I will not be posting the steampunk story for awhile, hoping that I can get it pusblished somewhere that requires them to have never been posted anywhere. The other ones I am slowly trying to get up on the computer and I will be posting those as they come along.

The Alchemist: A short story told during a gathering of hunters. The story is told by the Alchemist, about when he first became a hunter. A time when he was up north and a strange beast attacked him during a drive home.
This one I have posted on DA (which is where I'm going to be posting the), http://deadstilltalk.deviantart.com/art/The-Alchemist-short-story-129835695

Ghost Rider: During the chase of a spirit that has been manifesting itself as a car and forcing racers to crash, then eats their souls before they pass on, the alchemist is pulled over with blood covering his car and a back end full of alchemical supplies. Told from the cops perspective. in first draft.

A Modern Fantasy: Ever wonder if Imaginary friends were more then just imaginary? what if some of them were just that, a being that exist int he backdrop of our world, a being that only the gifted can see and interact with, a being that joins with a gifted soul. This short story is about a man who learns his childhood imaginary friend, Airy, is just one of those being. Around the same time he learns that there are much more to this world then meets the normal eye. Coneceptual stage.

Trouble at the Church - A Jonathan Lank Story: A five part short story that describes Jonathans first contact with the deziens of the shadow world. This is a back drop and introduction to the world that planned novels will be set in. Finished with first draft.

The Artifact - A Master Nation short story set as a introduction to the Story-teller of Shildra novel (the first novel): A gropup of relic hunters find a quique Necromatic artifact and bring it to a young necromancer to see what it does. It turns out that its an artifact that was created by the shrouded man to make him Immortal (and thus could be used to destory him). If it is ever brought back to the shorouded man, he becomes mortal again. Writing process

Collar: A cyber punk short story about a man who hacks into numerous places, leaves a tag, sometimes copies incriminating data, and gets out normally un-detected. The story goes through two jobs, the first goes off smoothly. The second is a set up that finally catches him. The government agents gives him two choices at the end, rot in a low-tech high-security prison for the rest of his life, or work on their cyber-crimes task force. Conceptual stage.

Hope you enjoy something in this. Also if you wish to help me with editing just let me know.

My steampunk style

Jul. 17th, 2009 | 05:14 am
location: my home on the green machine
mood: amused amused
music: nothing at the moment

This is fairly spot on with my idea of the fashion as a whole. I love mad scientist's, airship captains and the like, though I try to think of it as a sensible fashion and that steampunk is just as much a everyday dress as it is a grand adventure.

Thought this song was interesting

Jul. 15th, 2009 | 02:06 pm

This song made me laugh, its the secret track on Hurt's Goodbye to the Machine. Hope you guys enjoy it too.

"Flowers"

The children will sing
A song in the streets
Sounds like the 23rd psalm
To music of 21 notes
The flowers are dead
In a vase by the bed
On the place where the old woman died
It's the same place she started her life
Papers will all say her name
And probably print the wrong date
The day that you die,
'Cause we're all gonna die
Cute little puppies and bunnies and birds
People who sing when they don't know the words
You will die
'Cause we're all gonna die
It's just part of life
All men, women, children, hermaphrodites too
Animals, aliens and certainly you
You will die
'Cause we're all gonna die
'Cause everyone dies
And all that was ever
And all that will be
Single celled creatures
And anything green
You will die
'Cause we're all gonna die
Start saying goodbye
From the moment you start up this miserable life
You should know that it's only a matter of time
'Till you die
'Cause we're all gonna die
Start saying goodbye
And the morons at labels who think they know tunes
The army of lawyers that threaten to sue
The hookers that blow them when I just want food
And the asshats that download and never buy tunes
You should die
'Cause we're all gonna die
I can't wait 'till you die
All protestants, catholics and orthadox jews
You dumb scientologists
And guys who bend spoons
And buddhists, sort of
And athiests too
All you wackjob believers
Nobody's immune
You will die
'Cause we're all gonna die
Kiss your ass goodbye
And sarcastic song writers
Guys with tattoos, drummers and bassists and engineers too
And every last person that sang in this room
They will die
'Cause we're all gonna die
We're all gonna die
'Cause we're all gonna die
We're all gonna die
And it's just a reminder of something that's frequently known

Post Apocolyptic

I am currently designing a post apocalyptic world setting, one that I plan someday to turn into my own gaming system. Currently I plan on basing what I have created in GURPS till I have the concepts worked out in more detail, though I will be making certain alterations to the character creation process. I’ll post a basic back story soon, but at the moment I need some assistance, I wanted to look at other systems/settings that are based upon similar stories, this way I can get both some insight into a conceptual system and the look and style of their back stories.
I’m also looking for ideas for a name for this game, thanks in advance for any assistance that can be provided.

I love the free beer and hotwings morning show

Jun. 24th, 2009 | 07:07 am
mood: amused amused

Thank you freebeer and hot wings for making my morning better. They enlightened me to the humor that is this http://perezhilton.com/tv/index.php?ptvid=0cd5e5f27f759 and his amazing failness! This video makes me want to punch him, and the part of the show that talked about it made me laugh after a really really shitty day at work.

Peace all,

White-wolf Contest submission

Jun. 17th, 2009 | 10:08 am
location: Ava's computer
mood: excited excited
music: silence

So for the anticipated release of the new white-wolf game (Geist: Sin-easters), White-Wolf has decided to do monthly contests in leu of their preview releases. The first one I had missed out on, more cause I really couldn't think of a good thing to write about it... that and I didn't care to much for the prize that they had offered. The second one I had to get into, it just sounded way to fun for me to let pass me by (that and a mystery surprise always tickles my fancy).

There guidelines and examples:

"And time for another contest – this one goes until 5pm EST next Monday, June 22. Write an evocative almost-ending, no more than 75 words in length. Post it on this thread! There could be more than one winner this time. And winning what? (Nah, we’re not sharing that just yet- KB)

Here are some inspirational examples:

On a frozen lake, the ice suddenly cracks with the sound of a gunshot. A young man falls in, and by the time rescue workers pull him out, his body temperature has dropped to 86 degrees Fahrenheit and he’s not breathing.

A crackhead corners a woman on a deserted street. He wants her money, but he needs a fix more than anything. His hands are twitchy; as she’s handing over her purse, the gun discharges. The candy-apple red on the woman’s lips isn’t make-up. The junkie runs, leaving her to bleed out on the filthy pavement.

In a hospital ward, a man hisses his last breaths through a machine that ticks and bleeps at regular intervals. The cancer has practically liquefied his organs, but he fights for every single breath. He’s not done living yet."

My reply and submission:

This task was rather difficult for me, finding things to cut out of the first draft and still keep it interesting was one of the hardest things for me to do. First draft was 50 somethings words over the 75 word limit, but I think that this turned out as good as I could have expected it for me. Here goes nothing:

The light snow had calmed his nerves as he made his way through the woods. He remembered the pain of the attack, not more. As he lied there, breathe growing shallow, limbs stiffening, world dimming, something inside him clicked, he had to much left to do to die in the snow that night.
When the people were searching the next day, they found only blood soaked snow and a trail of foot-prints leading away.

Hope you enjoyed it!
